Christian Suau’s creative path to artistry was predisposed before birth.
Gabriel Suau, his Spanish-born father, was his first and most important teacher. As one of Puerto Rico’s pre-eminent TV producers, he commanded a career spanning several decades. One of his TV shows, No Te Duermas, was an audience favorite for years and remains an icon in the history of Puerto Rican TV. Suau also distinguished himself as a photographer of many of Puerto Rico’s leading celebrities.
Christian’s mother, renowned singer and actress Nydia Caro, is a prominent star in her own right. She began her career starring in an NBC show and released her first album in 1967. She was the first Puerto Rican awarded the prestigious OTI Festival Award, after her historic win in 1974.
In 2001, Christian Suau enrolled in the New York Film Academy (NYFA). At NYFA, his life path crossed with British film producer Donald Ranvaud, (City of God, Farewell My Concubine and The Constant Gardener), who became his mentor. His apprenticeship with Ranvaud, between 2004 and 2008, resulted in the much-acclaimed documentary Oso Blanco.
Since Oso Blanco, Suau has been busily working in award-winning commercials and music videos that have garnered billions of YouTube views, ranking them among the Top Fifty Most Viewed Videos on the site.
